We are currently looking for a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Durham. This role is essential in supporting students with emotional and behavioural challenges, helping them to thrive within a school setting. Role Overview As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement effective strategies that encourage positive behaviour among students. Key responsibilities include: Supporting Students: Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students with challenging behaviours, helping them develop coping strategies and social skills. Behaviour Management: Help create and apply individualised behaviour plans tailored to meet students’ unique needs. Monitoring Progress: Track and report on students’ progress, working closely with teachers to refine approaches where necessary. Creating a Positive Environment: Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom where all students feel valued and respected. Collaboration with Staff: Work alongside teaching staff, SENCOs, and parents to ensure a consistent and effective approach to behaviour management. Qualifications Experience working with children or young people in an educational or similar setting is desirable. A background in psychology, education, or related fields is beneficial.
