As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by BP (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar-in-Cleveland on Teesside.
The Senior HSW Advisor will promote Health, Safety and Environmental management in the workplace and specifically, provide competent advice, guidance and support to the Project HSE Manager and Project Team in all matters relating to HSE Management.
What you'll be doing
* Develop and implement Project Safety Management System process and procedures and the arrangements detailed within the Project HS&W Plan.
* Provide advice, support and assistance to all project personnel to enable them to discharge their health and safety roles and responsibilities.
* Develop and deliver suitable safety training programmes for all project personnel (including routine project inductions, toolbox talks and topic specific presentations).
Assist HSE Manager / Led and Supervisory staff in undertaking project related risk assessments in line with project specifics procedures.
* Undertake risk assessment reviews to ensure that risk assessments are suitable and sufficient for the tasks to be undertaken.
* Undertake Health and Safety compliance evaluations, inspections and audits at prescribed intervals – record outputs and liaise with site management to ensure actions are completed.
* Promote a positive safety culture through proactive engagement and communications with project teams
* Investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events in accordance with project standards to identify and share lessons learned. Monitor and report to line management the implementation of actions to prevent recurrence.
* Maintain records, minutes, registers and data as required for specific HSE meetings.
* Record, collate and interpret health and safety performance data including close out of inspection and accident investigation reports, and provide management reports on a routine basis
* Participate in the regular reviews and updates of the Project HSE Management System.
* Interface and develop health and safety initiatives with the customers and/or joint venture delivery partners.
* Undertake duties as requested by the NZT HS&W Manager / Lead.
* Maintain a visual presence on site to cast a leadership shadow and assist with coaching and mentoring of project personnel to ensure continuous improvements are made.
* Deputise in the absence of the HS&W Manager
Who we're looking for
* NEBOSH / C&G Diploma L5+
* Member of the Institution of Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing and Health (TechIOSH /GradIOSH)
* Experience in H&S within multi discipline engineering construction projects
* Ability to prepare technical inspection, audit reports and other documentation for submission to internal and external stakeholders.
* Previous experience in conducting and producing incident investigations to a high standard determining root cause and appropriate and proportionate corrective actions in the interest of Learning From Experience (LFE)
* Confident with Microsoft Office 365 suite and online databases and general IT
