What will you do?
As a Biomedical Scientist (BMS) you will receive, process and analyse a range of clinical specimens in order to diagnose a variety of clinical illnesses, infectious diseases and monitor their response to treatment. Typical responsibilities include:
1. Work in haematology, clinical chemistry, transfusion science, and microbiology
2. Receive, process and analyse clinical specimens
3. Perform compatibility testing to ensure safe use of blood and blood products
Minimum Education Requirements
Unqualified:
1. 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or five Scottish National 5s at Grade C to include Maths/Application of Mathematics and English Language
2. Grade BBB in three A-level subjects including Biology. A-level General Studies, Critical Thinking and Citizenship Studies are not accepted but other qualifications may be considered
3. Aston University is the designated provider for our BMS undergraduate training programme
Qualified:
1. HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist
Requirements
1. Be aged 17 - 47 years old (Must attest before 48th birthday)
2. Must be a citizen of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, holder of dual UK/other nationality or have been a Commonwealth citizen since birth (with 'right to work' immigration status)
3. Commit to minimum 12 years service
4. Meet the health and fitness criteria
