We are now looking for a proactive and results-driven Plant Manager with solid leadership and organisational skills to join the team at our Bradford site, working from Monday to Friday. In this Senior Manager role, you will be responsible for providing leadership to the Bradford site management team (operations, technical, EHSQ and maintenance) ensuring safe and efficient operations of the manufacturing activities at the site.
Being able to continuously improve the effectiveness of manufacturing operations and develop and implement initiatives to ensure the site meets current and future safety, regulatory, environmental, quality and productivity targets will be key to your success. The Bradford site is an Upper Tier COMAH site, and you will co-ordinate the community interaction and participate in the out of hours call out rota for the off-site Emergency Plan.
In this role you will be responsible for:
1. Securing that Safety is a priority in the operations of the site.
2. Monitoring the cost and effectiveness of production activities to optimise resources, and achieve safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.
3. Monitoring the performance of the operations against standards and targets in areas such as manufacturing efficiency, cost control in production, safety and other relevant EHSQ areas, maintenance, reliability and availability, legal compliance, capital issues, and human resource management.
4. Leading, directing, evaluating, and developing a team of managers under the responsibility to ensure that the site meets its established targets and standards.
5. Identifying and addressing training needs to close competence gaps.
6. Ensuring all staff follows the rules and processes according to Kemira Values and Kemira Principles.
7. Enforcing EHSQ standards and policies. Ensuring teams have proper working conditions and safety equipment per Kemira rules and local laws.
8. Ensuring communication cascade from management to the Bradford manufacturing site as appropriate.
9. Managing costs and approve expenses in line with unit targets.
10. Preparing Capex plans in line with established policies for business review and ensure follow up to ensure sustainability of the operations and support business development.
What you’ll bring to the team:
1. Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a similar relevant technical subject area.
2. Proven leadership with the ability to motivate and develop others, ideally gained in the Chemical or Process Industries.
3. Solid experience of managing teams in a manufacturing, operations, or a related field; with a proven record in managing performance, budgets, and operational processes, experience in implementing and sustaining EHSQ (Environment, Health, Safety, and Quality) standards.
4. Good problem-solving and decision-making capabilities to manage complex processes and drive operational excellence.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure effective collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders.
6. Adaptability and growth mindset with a flexible approach to handling challenges and the ability to thrive in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
7. Process safety leadership knowledge and a safety qualification such as NEBOSH.
