About the Opportunity Based in Birchwood Park, Warrington, and acting as a key technical member of the Team, this opportunity is for a hands-on Technical Quality Manager supporting the critical work of the laboratories. Quality at Amentum is an integral part of our working practice and is pivotal in all that we do. With Analytical Services currently going through an exciting programme of extension to scope for accredited methods, the Technical Quality Manager role will support analysts and management in our ongoing technical expansions. Analytical Services, part of Chemistry and Radioanalytical Solutions within Amentum, undertakes environmental and radiochemical analysis on a broad range of sample matrices for multiple client sectors. Supported by a sample preparation team, project managers and consultants the predominant activities are a mixture of consulting and chemical & radiochemical analyses. Analytical testing plays an essential role in supporting the legal environmental compliance clients require when operating, decommissioning, and building nuclear facilities as well ensuring on-going safe working environments. - Qualification in an appropriate scientific subject and appropriate Quality qualification / experience - Thorough understanding of the UKAS and MCERTS (for soils) accreditation processes - Experience leading UKAS audits and audit teams - Hands on experience in method development, validation and accreditation - ideally having worked in laboratories throughout your career to date. - Experience managing Quality Management Systems in an ISO 17025 laboratory, preferably in the environmental or nuclear sectors. - Experience in performing Internal Audits including event management, document control, control of records, continuous quality improvement and customer facing aspects - Experience with proficiency testing schemes such as CONTEST and AquaCheck would be an advantage - Ability to train / mentor / support junior members of staff - skills such as active listening, being curious so as to positively challenge / coach practices, and authenticity are what we are looking for - Great communication - both written and verbal - Good understanding on laboratory safety - Communication skills to work as part of a team and the ability to discuss tasks with others from different technical disciplines.
