Job overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated respiratory physiotherapist to join our CCOT at East Surrey Hospital in a unique and varied role. You will be working alongside a team of CCOT nurses and another physiotherapist to provide specialist assessment, treatment, and management of patients following critical illness, as well as providing training, education, and supervision to other healthcare professionals, physiotherapists, and students.
We are passionate about improving patient experience and outcomes following critical illness, and a large part of your role will be working with patients to try and reduce the impact of Post Intensive Care Syndrome through supporting the patient, family, and other members of the MDT to provide holistic assessment and rehabilitation throughout their journey from Critical Care all the way to Follow Up Clinic. You will also be involved in the management of patients with tracheostomies, alongside the other physiotherapist within CCOT.
The successful candidate will have sound clinical knowledge and experience within the setting of critical care and respiratory physiotherapy, will be self-motivated and have the ability to prioritise the needs of the service, whilst continuing to develop their own skills and practice. There are exciting opportunities for staff development, with potential to complete funded Master’s modules and FUSIC Lung Ultrasound accreditation under the guidance of our critical care consultants.
