We are looking for a Software Support Engineer to join our Elements Software team at Vaisala in Aberdeen, UK. What’s your role?
You will be part of our Elements team of six software professionals, formerly part of Nevis Technology and now integrated into Vaisala. Together with the team, you will have an excellent opportunity to set up, maintain and troubleshoot Elements systems for our growing global customer base. In this role you will be working in close co-operation with software and project engineers, sales teams and software end users. You will report to Product & Development Manager, Software.
You’ll be a technical problem solver whose responsibilities will include:
* Investigating software, sensors and data issues reported by clients
* Remotely accessing offshore systems to deploy fixes
* Becoming proficient in working with our software’s XML configuration files to build new systems which meet unique customer requirements
* Assisting our project engineers and customers with server operating system and hardware setup
* Planning and executing robust system tests
* Communicating directly with clients and colleagues via phone, email, and in person
* Analyzing datasets in Excel
What will you bring?
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
* The ability to work independently while using time efficiently
* Professional communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues
* Familiarity with XML, JSON, REST concepts, SQL and serial communications
* Any existing experience in TypeScript, Node.js or AWS is advantageous but not essential
* Some experience of data analysis would be valuable
