Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with SEMH needs and a passion for making a positive impact on their lives. As a Personal Development Coach, you will support the classroom teacher in delivering tailored educational programs and fostering a supportive learning environment. You will also be required to provide pastoral support and show initiative by developing the wider curriculum. Key Responsibilities: • Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering individualised education plans for students with SEMH needs, aligned with the Curriculum for Wales. • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them to engage with the curriculum and develop essential skills. • Implement behaviour management strategies to support students in regulating their emotions and behaviours. • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes students' social and emotional well-being. • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to the classroom teacher and other relevant staff. • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement effective support strategies. • Assist with the preparation of classroom materials and resources. • Supervise students during breaks, lunchtimes, and other activities as needed. • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. • A commitment to personal professional development to gain formal qualifications if not already completed. Qualifications: • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is highly desirable. • A relevant qualification in education, child development, or a related field is desirable e.g. Level 2 teaching assistant • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Welsh Language would be desirable • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEMH needs. • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. • Basic knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies. • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students. • Familiarity with the Curriculum for Wales and its emphasis on holistic development across areas such as health and well-being, expressive arts, and humanities • Awareness of trauma-informed practice, including principles such as safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural consideration • Understanding of the PACE approach (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) by which focuses on building safe, trusting, and meaningful relationships with children who have experienced trauma • Understanding of PRICE training • A positive attitude and solution focused mind setApplication Deadline: 22 April 2025
