We are currently recruiting for a Band 6 Sister to work on our Liver Surgical Ward 726 for a period of 12 months to cover maternity leave. The ward cares for a wide variety of patients with complex surgical liver conditions, including those undergoing liver transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery.
We are looking for a nurse who has recent acute liver medical or surgical experience and thrives within a fast-paced environment with the ability to cope under pressure, who is now ready to develop their managerial skills.
We receive support from our acute 'outreach' nurses and have a number of specialist nurses within the specialty who assist with the care of these patients. QEHB is a fast-growing trust which values the education and professional development of its staff. The Liver wards are educationally supported by a professional development nurse helping to ensure all staff are trained in an appropriate and timely manner to suit their individual requirements.
We are a dedicated team with the drive and resources to deliver high standards of care to all our patients. Good teamwork and communication is essential as we work with a mixture of specialist nursing teams, medics and therapists.

* Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register
Experience

* Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
* Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
* Can demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice-based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
* Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
* Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
* Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
* Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
* Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
