Mills & Reeve have a fantastic opportunity to join the Finance Systems team as a Finance Systems Project Manager.
The role
The Finance Systems Project Manager/Data Quality Lead will report directly into the Finance Systems Manager and be involved in the implementation and management of new or upgraded financial systems within the firm, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all business requirements by collaborating firmwide, while managing project risks and ensuring smooth transition to the new system. The role will provide wider support and bandwidth to the rest of Finance Systems Team.
This role requires a deep understanding of finance processes, project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to ensure the financial systems meet the firm's needs. Experience with 3E or equivalent Practice Management System (PMS) software is essential, and familiarity with related product software such as Concur (expenses), Intapp Time (time recording), Billstream (Billing platform), and ShareDo (Matter Management Software) is beneficial but not required.
The person
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
* Experience: Strong previous experience in finance systems management, project management, or a related role within a law firm or professional services environment. Experience with 3E or equivalent software is essential
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in finance systems (e.g., 3E, ERP, accounting software), project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Concur, Intapp Time, Power BI, and data warehouses is beneficial. Strong understanding of financial systems and accounting principles
* Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Certifications: Project Management experience or formal certification is preferred but not essential. SQL reporting, PowerBI, programming, experience with setting up APIs or other relevant skills
* Leadership: Ability to mentor cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Project Management Skills: Proven experience in managing complex projects from initiation to closure, including risk management, scheduling, and budget control.
* Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and system configuration.
* Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing business needs and work in a fast-paced environment.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders, including technical teams, finance teams, and senior management.
The activities
* Project Planning and Execution: Alongside the Projects Team, define project scope, goals, timelines, and deliverables for financial system implementations
* Requirements Gathering and Analysis: In conjunction with the Finance Systems Manager, collaborate with finance teams to understand current financial processes and identify areas for improvement
* System Selection and Implementation: Input into the evaluation of different financial software vendors and solutions based on business requirements and budget constraints working alongside Finance Systems and procurement team colleagues
* Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure quality and timely delivery of services
* Change Management: Alongside the Technology Adoption Team, develop change management strategies to minimise disruption during system transition
* System Implementation: Assist in the implementation of new finance systems alongside the wider Finance Systems team, Finance Operations, and Finance Management & Accounts Teams, including planning, configuration, testing, and training, with a focus on 3E or equivalent software
* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness, specifically working on workflows to streamline activities and reduce administrative burden across the firm and for users
* Training and Support: Alongside the Technology Adoption Team, develop and deliver training programs for end-users and provide ongoing support to ensure effective use of finance systems.
* Compliance and Security: Ensure finance systems comply with legal, regulatory, and security requirements (e.g., segregation of duties, alignment to approval levels, data protection requirements, and cybersecurity)
* Related Software Management: Assist in the management and support of related product software, including Concur (expenses) and Intapp Time (time recording)
* Data Quality Monitoring: Implement and oversee processes for data quality monitoring, reporting, and correction to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data and any data shared across systems or visualised in reports to the business. Develop and run audit reports to highlight data inaccuracies
* Cross-System Reporting: Facilitate cross-system reporting across the firm, utilising tools such as Power BI and data warehouses to provide comprehensive and actionable insights
