GSL Education are looking for an empathetic and driven Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join a client school in Scunthorpe. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a positive and supportive learning environment for students who face unique challenges. About the Role As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your role will be to provide targeted support to students who face challenges with their social, emotional, and mental health. By working closely with teachers and other staff, you will help students overcome barriers to learning, foster positive behaviours, and build their confidence. This is a hands-on role requiring empathy, patience, and a proactive approach to making a lasting impact in students' lives. Key Responsibilities: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your role will include: Working closely with students who require extra support to engage in their education. Helping to implement personalised learning and behaviour plans. Promoting emotional well-being and resilience among students. Supporting the teacher in maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere. Assisting with both group activities and one-to-one sessions as needed. What you’ll need: Experience working with children with SEN/SEMH needs (essential). A calm, nurturing, and non-judgmental approach to supporting young people. Confidence in managing and de-escalating challenging situations. An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or a willingness to apply for one.
