1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant (part time)
Salary Scale: Grade 3 Level 2 (part time: 27.5 hours per week)
Start date: January 2025
We have an exciting opportunity for a 1:1 Support Teaching Assistant at Christ Church CofE Primary School, Lichfield to work alongside the class teacher with a SEND child.
What we are looking for:
* An enthusiastic, experienced and committed Teaching Assistant for this exciting new opportunity to work in our Year 1 team supporting a child with additional needs.
You will have:
* Previous experience working in key stage 1/2.
* Current knowledge of the key stage 1/2 curriculum.
* Good understanding of supporting behaviour in a nurturing environment.
* The ability to work with children 1:1 as required, including children with additional needs.
* The ability to work in the whole class or smaller group environment.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* The ability to be flexible and creative.
* The ability to be calm and positive.
* An understanding of how children learn and develop both academically and emotionally.
* An understanding of differing children’s needs particularly linked to trauma and attachment difficulties and the impact of this.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting a pupil with a highly personalised and bespoke curriculum with opportunities for sensory, play-based learning to meet complex emotional needs and promote resilience with learning.
* Working with the pupil on an individual, group or class basis as required by the class teacher.
* Supporting in the classroom with other pupils when the 1:1 child doesn’t require support.
* Assisting in offsite visits.
* Aiding the pupil to access the national curriculum with adaptations where required and encourage their independence as a learner.
* Motivating and encouraging the pupil and other pupils to behave well in and around school.
* Supporting the child at lunchtime (you will have lunchtime at a different time to the child).
