Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for an innovative, enthusiastic and highly motivated Cardiac Physiologist to join our dynamic and friendly team at Dorset County Hospital.
Dorset provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a life amid outstanding areas of natural beauty both in the countryside and along the stunning Jurassic coast line.
We are looking for an experienced Chief Cardiac Physiologist to join our team as we develop new physiologist led services, developments in cardiac rhythm management including the expansion of our remote monitoring service, CRT/D implant and follow up and conduction system pacing.
Main duties of the job
In this role you would be expected to assist in supporting the CRM service both clinically and from a service provision/development perspective. There will be an expectation for you to deliver training and mentorship to newly qualified members of staff and students/apprentices.
Applicants must have IBHRE/BHRS (or similar) or are working towards this, and be willing to demonstrate leadership development.
You will be actively involved in the day-to-day clinical aspects of the CRM and PCI service. Beyond the clinical duties you will also support and deputise for the CRM Lead Cardiac Physiologist and the Cardiac Physiology Manager.
You will be expected to be part of the on-call PCI and device follow-up service (24/7).
About us
We actively support continuing professional development, including IBHRE/BHRS and BSE accreditation. We also encourage and support attendance at relevant educational courses, national and regional meetings.
At Dorset County Hospital we perform coronary angiography and intervention, providing a Primary PCI service during normal working hours. We have two cardiac catheter labs where we perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterisation, implant cardiac devices and site atrial appendage occlusion.
There is ample opportunity to get involved in developments within the department including our remote device follow-up service.
Job responsibilities
The successful applicant will be a self-motivated physiologist who is organised, flexible with good team working mentality. You will assist the cardiology team in providing high quality, patient centred care.
You will be expected to maintain your own professional development with support and encouragement from the department. You are also required to keep up to date with emerging research evidence and current clinical guidelines.
In this role you would be expected to assist in supporting the PCI service both clinically and from a service provision/development perspective.
You will also be expected to be part of the on-call PCI (18.00-23.00) and device follow-up service (24/7).
