We are looking for an experienced and reliable Engineering Workshop Operative with driving experience to join our team. This role will involve assisting in various engineering tasks, maintaining workshop equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day workshop activities. The successful candidate will also be responsible for driving company vehicles to deliver or collect materials and equipment as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Workshop Operations:
• Assist in the maintenance, assembly, and repair of engineering components and machinery, operating various workshop equipment, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and welding tools.
• Polishing/cleaning of manufactured cleaning equipment.
• Ensure all workshop tasks are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Organize materials and tools in the workshop for efficient workflow.
• Perform quality checks on parts and equipment produced in the workshop.
Driving Duties:
• Operate company vehicles to transport equipment/materials to and from client sites or suppliers.
• Ensure vehicles are maintained and cleaned regularly and report any faults or issues to management.
General Duties:
• Assist with the unloading and storing of deliveries and materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
• Support the team in other ad-hoc duties and projects as needed.
Requirements:
Experience:
• Previous experience working in an engineering workshop environment is highly preferred.
• Practical experience with workshop tools and machinery.
• Previous experience in a driving role, with a clean driving
Skills:
• Good mechanical aptitude and an understanding of engineering processes.
• Ability to work as part of a team or independently, depending on the task.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
Qualifications:
• A valid driving license is essential (some roles may require a commercial driving license).
• Forklift Truck/crane experience/certification
• Any relevant engineering qualifications or certifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Engineering, HNC/HND, or equivalent) would be beneficial.
Physical Requirements:
• The role may involve manual handling, so physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects are required.
• Willingness to work in a workshop environment, which may involve exposure to noise and other working conditions.
Working Conditions:
• Full-time position (4.5 days per week) Mon – Thu 8am – 5pm, Fri, 8am – 12.30pm
• The role will require working both indoors (in the workshop) and outdoors (for deliveries and collections).
• The position may require occasional travel to client sites or suppliers.
