Job summary Richmond Community Healthcare Trust is seeking to appoint a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Teddington Memorial Hospital. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, this position involves working closely alongside the therapists and ward staff on the Pamela Bryant Unit to provide a rehabilitation program for patients. As part of the multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute towards the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of rehabilitation provided on the ward, supporting patients to achieve their goals and access appropriate services. Main duties of the job Main Duties of the Job: Working with clinicians to deliver rehabilitation and occupation-based therapy to a mixed caseload of medical and older adult patients. Working closely directly alongside the Occupational Therapy Team to conduct functional assessments for activities of daily living, deliver therapeutic interventions in line with rehabilitation goals, running patient activity groups, and assisting with home environment assessments / home visits. Supporting the Therapy Team with clerical duties, such as ordering and demonstrating safe use of equipment and the completion of community referrals. To work independently with patients on the ward and sometimes at the patient's home, with access to support and / or supervision from experienced clinicians. To maintain close communication with the Therapy Team / Inpatient Teams to facilitate the delivery of patient care and safety. The successful applicant should have a flexible approach and an ability to work under pressure, both as part of a team and independently, good communication skills, literacy and computer skills. It would also be an advantage to have experience of working within a therapy service or have previously worked in a health care environment. Driving can sometimes be part of this job, so it is preferable that you are a car owner / driver however not essential.
