Overall Purpose of the Job
We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher with a PhD in epidemiology, psychology, public health, social science, health economics, statistics or equivalent. You will be involved in establishing new studies to collect samples and data from patients with rheumatoid arthritis as part of a large international study funded by the European Union: PerPrev-CID (Personalised Disease Prediction and Prevention in Chronic Inflammatory Disorders). The work sets out to explore new standards for early molecular diagnosis and novel assessment tools for rheumatoid arthritis.
The post is available immediately and will be tenable on a fixed term contract for 6 months. You will be based at the Centre for Genetics and Genomics Versus Arthritis (CfGG), University of Manchester, Manchester UK. CfGG is considered to be the pre-eminent research group internationally undertaking research into the occurrence, causation, impact and outcome of the major rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders and fosters a strong programme of staff development and support.
We are looking for an enthusiastic research associate with a background in one of the following disciplines, or related: Epidemiology, Psychology, Data science, Public health, Social science, applied health science, Health economics, or Statistics. You will be establishing ethics approvals for new prospective studies and be involved in the analysis of existing data. You will have good experience of drafting and gaining approval for ethics applications, and a good understanding of applying various statistical analysis (e.g. multivariate/multivariable regression analysis, longitudinal analysis) of real world data and in interrogating observational large datasets.
