Job Title: Equipment Maintenance Engineer Location: Chelmsford Salary: £36,000 per annum Working Hours: 9:00 AM 5:00 PM Job Description: As an Equipment Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and ensuring the safe operation of production equipment. You will support the equipment build and calibration teams, assist with apprentice training, and perform a wide range of tasks aimed at minimizing equipment downtime and improving efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Organize and prioritize your workload effectively. Adhere to good health, safety, and housekeeping practices at all times. Support equipment build, calibration, and preventative maintenance teams. Assist in the training and development of apprentices. Identify and implement preventative maintenance needs to ensure equipment reliability. Perform regular scheduled safety inspections and preventative maintenance tasks. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, performing reactive maintenance when necessary. Assist in sourcing spare parts and establishing stock levels for equipment. Fabricate mechanical components as required for equipment repairs. Suggest and implement equipment improvements to enhance performance and safety. Provide technical support to production engineers regarding equipment issues. Help produce risk and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) assessments. Identify equipment that requires replacement and contribute to capital budget planning. Provide regular progress updates to the management team. Essential Skills, Qualifications, and Experience: Completed technical/engineering/electrical/electronic apprenticeship. HNC qualification in an engineering discipline. Strong communication skills. Good understanding of health, safety, and housekeeping practices. Ability to work from detailed technical drawings and wiring diagrams. Ability to work within tight deadlines and budget constraints.
