In-House Lawyer (6+ years PQE)
Location - London or Winchester
Hybrid working - 40% (2 days a week in office) required with Thursday as the compulsory team office day (usually Tuesday as the office day). If based from our Winchester office, the expectation is that you will travel to the London office on a Thursday on a weekly basis.

What's the role and who are we looking for?
We have an exciting permanent new opening for a lawyer with extensive experience advising on commercial, technology and software contracts, and data protection to join our well regarded and friendly in-house Legal team. To be successful in this role you will excel in taking a pragmatic and commercial approach, demonstrate excellent contract negotiation skills, and be confident negotiating with procurement teams and large law firms.
This position will particularly suit a self-starter who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team, and is looking for a hands-on commercial role that offers a breadth of work and excellent work-life balance.
What will you be doing?
* Leading complex contract negotiations with clients’ procurement teams and external and internal lawyers for the provision of professional and consultancy advice, analytics, software and technology services, pensions administration and other client services
* Advising on client contracts such as engagement terms, master services agreements, client secondments, non-disclosure agreements, reliance, comfort and release letters
* Advising on a wide range of legal, risk and compliance matters affecting the firm, including intellectual property rights, data protection law and artificial intelligence
* Supporting the business in understanding the legal framework and associated risks of new business lines, and modelling and analytics tools, including drafting associated contractual documentation and website terms
* Working closely with the Data Protection and Information Security team, providing advice on privacy, data protection and cybersecurity requirements
* Acting as a trusted adviser to and developing strong internal relationships with partners, client facing teams and internal support teams
* Advising internal support teams and professional committees on legal matters, including supplier contracts, policies and procedures, and new legal developments
* Contributing to the development and maintenance of internal legal policies and procedures, template development and process improvement, identifying and resolving opportunities to create efficiencies and providing training where necessary
* Staying ahead of the latest legal developments and actively sharing knowledge and contributing to the development of more junior lawyers and the wider team
What qualifications, experience and skills will make you an excellent candidate?
* You must be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales (other suitable jurisdictions may be considered) with a minimum of 6 years’ post qualification experience
* Extensive professional experience in general commercial legal matters including contracts, technology and software
* An excellent knowledge of data protection law. Intellectual property knowledge is highly desirable/advantageous
* Recent experience from a reputable law firm and/or as in-house lawyer for a multinational company, preferably in the professional services or technology sector
* Excellent negotiation skills with both legal and commercial issues
* Excellent documentation, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels, including senior management
* A commercial and pragmatic approach
* Ability to work independently and on own initiative on many different matters at once, and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment
* Flexibility of tasks and hours covered and to travel and work from other LCP offices (travel expenses will be paid where working from alternative offices)
