We are currently recruiting for a Cover Supervisor / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a Welsh-medium secondary school in Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with young people, supporting their academic and personal development.
- Lead classes and oversee daily tasks in the absence of the class teacher.
- Mentor and support students - acting as a positive role model, building strong relationships, and encouraging engagement with school life.
- Provide both classroom support and vocational mentoring outside the classroom, tailoring your approach to individual student needs.
- Use your mentoring skills - drawing from experience in areas such as sports, drama, or counselling - to inspire and motivate young people.
This role is open to those with experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, or those with a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, there is potential for either an extended contract or a permanent position.
- Previous experience in a similar setting (Cover Supervisor, TA, Tutor, or youth mentor).
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) - desirable but not essential.
- Strong GCSEs in Maths and English and be computer literate.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service - or be willing to apply for a new one.
- Provide two professional references covering the last two years, specifically related to work with children.
- Competitive daily rate of £105.
