The Directorate of Future Students, Marketing and Communications brings together several functions: Marketing; Student Recruitment (Home/UK); Student Recruitment (International); Recruitment Conversion; Student Communications; Communications and PR; and our Admissions Service.
The Student Communications Team is responsible for keeping current students at the University up-to-date with the latest student news, announcements, campaigns and events in relation to life on campus. This involves communicating directly with our student body via a variety of platforms (particularly social media) and ensuring our content is engaging, creates a sense of community and helps to maximise the student experience at GCU.
Position: Student Communications Assistant
The Student Communications Assistant will perform a key role in the team, being responsible for the day-to-day management of our dedicated student social media channels. This will involve creating content to support these channels (video and infographics) as well as ensuring a consistent voice across our communication platforms. They will also contribute news articles to our student newsroom, assist with drafting our bi-weekly student newsletter and support with delivering key messages through our Student App.
They will have a clear remit to work collaboratively across the University, delivering key communications in a way that is engaging and relatable to a student audience.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Experience in using social media to grow and engage audiences.
2. Filming/video editing skills.
3. Basic understanding of packages like Canva to create content for social media channels.
4. Flair for writing news stories.
5. Strong relationship building and networking skills.
6. Close attention to detail.
7. Excellent planning and organisation skills.
8. Ability to work successfully as part of a team.
