Job Title: Project Engineering Manager
Salary: up to £61,500 per annum dependent upon experience
Location: Portsmouth
We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world's leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Project Engineering Manager. The role will be based in Portsmouth but offers the opportunity for hybrid working (3 days per week on site and 2 days remotely) and flexible working hours. Individual circumstances can be discussed.

The Modelling & Simulation team are part of the Simulation & Training Group. This team delivers high fidelity simulations of the world, platforms, weapons and sensors that enable re-creation of complex Naval formations supporting Under Water Battlespace and Future Air Dominance.
This role will give wide exposure to a variety of different functions and areas of the business and will provide plenty of opportunities for training and progression with a focus on technical ability and professionalisation throughout your career.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Management of an engineering programme or project consisting of a number of major engineering systems, disciplines, platform assemblies, equipment or software products
2. Management & integration of multi-disciplined engineering teams; leadership of engineering resources, delivery of packages of work/ services, involving new products and/or complex upgrades, utilising new and existing technologies, requiring multiple interfaces with customers/suppliers or partners
3. Delivery of projects to meet customer and contractual obligations for cost, quality, timeliness and specification, resolution of engineering conflicts between disciplines, systems and capabilities
4. Integration and solution development to meet a coherent and prioritised set of demands, tailor and apply engineering processes, tools and approaches to develop innovative and creative solutions to contracts and specifications
5. Role typically is responsible for development and delivery of contracts (>£2m per annum, IBP value >£10m, resources >20 engineers) involving management of 2-3 teams
6. Provide accurate estimating, forecasting, tracking and status /progress reporting of engineering developments to the Project Manager, Simulation & Training (S&T) management and wider Maritime Services engineering function

About You:
1. A sound knowledge of complex software development and integration, together with some knowledge of IT systems development engineering principles
2. An understanding of development processes utilising multidiscipline teams involving e.g. concept / assessment, requirements analysis, system / sub-system design, software / hardware development, integration, acceptance and in-service support
3. The ability to plan multiple work programmes and balance resources across multiple contracts within sub-surface
4. Experience of working with senior level stakeholders (internally and externally) and ability to communicate programme issues confidently and clearly
