The Care Finance Assessment Team is looking to recruit a full-time temporary Business Support Officer within the Deprivation and Deferred Payments Team, to cover a period of six months. The role is attached to an administrative base at County Hall, Preston, however, currently may work from home. All flexible working requests may be considered for the successful candidate e.g. home working, compressed hours.
We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual who is ready to join our busy team. The role is to provide support to the Team Leader and Financial Assessment Officers who complete residential financial assessments, setup Deferred Payment agreements and investigate and make decisions in relation to Deprivation of assets and income for Adult Social Care.
Your duties will include:
1. Arranging telephone appointments and visits for Financial Assessment Officers.
2. Dealing with duty phone calls, emails, and collating information and details required to complete a deferred payment agreement.
3. Providing information to legal services and solicitors regarding outstanding residential care fees and property sales.
4. Liaising with suppliers to arrange property valuations.
5. Supporting the Assessment Officer to complete and make deprivation decisions.
You will need to demonstrate a good level of ICT skills and will be required to be competent in using Microsoft Office Applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook. You need to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively using interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise sensitivity and empathy at what could be a difficult time for the customer.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Plan and organise straightforward tasks, exchange varied information with members of the public and colleagues.
2. Provide general information, advice, and guidance on established internal procedures.
3. Limited accountability for monitoring/recording financial resources.
4. Provide support and guidance as required to colleagues.
5. Completion of tasks to required standards and deadlines.
6. Accountable for ensuring all telephone calls are conducted in an appropriate manner, respecting the diverse needs and circumstances presented by service users and responding in a sensitive and supportive manner.
7. Responsible for liaising with colleagues across the Local Authority's Directorates to advise of customer's requests and concerns and for signposting to relevant points of contact, including partner agencies and advice centres as appropriate.
8. To be able to work independently, organising your workload to ensure set targets are achieved within an allocated length of time.
Skills & Experience:
1. Previous relevant experience or the ability to demonstrate the competence/capacity to carry out the role.
2. Office experience at an administrative level.
3. Experience of dealing with vulnerable people, social care customers and working in social care finance is not mandatory but may be advantageous.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Ability to use Information Technology efficiently.
6. The ability to follow instructions and processes as well as offer new ideas and contribute towards improving the delivery of our service.
In addition, the post holder may be required to attend training, team briefings and meetings at other venues across the County.
