An exciting opportunity has arisen within the newly formed Curtailment Team for a DSO Curtailment Analyst. This role will report to the DSO Curtailment Lead within the DSO System Models & Data department and is preferably based at Bristol but Cardiff, Tipton or Castle Donington will also be considered. The DSO Curtailment Team is a new team which will be responsible for the development of curtailment tooling, improvement of curtailment data and the production of curtailment reports. The team will be focused on improving the curtailment reporting offering we provide to our customers through self-serve data and bespoke reporting. The team will also work closely with DSO Network Operations to develop improved capability to monitor and optimise customer curtailment.
The successful candidate should hold a HNC or equivalent in a subject that demonstrates high quality analytical reasoning. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment. *Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete. As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.

Main Responsibilities
1. Supporting the creation and delivery of curtailment reports.
2. Coordination of data with the DSO, Active Network Management (ANM) and Primary Network Design (PND) teams.
3. Creation, manipulation and processing of curtailment data.
4. Coordination of curtailment report requests and queue management - Last In First Off (LIFO) stacks.
5. Manipulation of time-series data and trend analysis.
6. Collation of historic and forecast outage information.
7. Recording and management of curtailment limits.
8. Improve datasets available on our Cloud Data Platform (CDP) that enable customers to undertake their own curtailment analysis.
9. Support the development of automating processes.
10. Proactively working with the data owners and maintainers to continually improve data quality, accuracy and system integration.
11. Interaction with internal and external stakeholders to support their use of our information and improve the analysis.
12. Proactively investigate and resolve data issues and assisting with the investigation of anomalies arising from the data or its processing.
13. Using initiative to test, review and feedback on wider business data projects and their alignment with the curtailment team and business objectives.
14. Working autonomously and where appropriate, seeking support and guidance from DSO engineers.
15. Providing administrative support to the team when required.
16. Operate and document the operation of specialist engineering software.
17. Flexible and able to pick up wider team work when required.
The Ideal Candidate
You should be self-motivated, inquisitive and demonstrate a clear knowledge of the principles and issues associated with data extraction, data processing, data storage, data manipulation and data anomalies. An understanding of SQL, VBA and Python, as well as experience of electrical network model building and programming is desirable. Fundamental electrical knowledge would be beneficial. The ability to present information in a clear and reasoned way, together with an open yet analytical approach to problem solving is essential to the role. Excellent computer skills including Word and Excel are essential and knowledge of large database applications are also desirable. You must be reliable, well organised and be able to work effectively as part of a small team and able to work using your own initiative. You should be able to demonstrate sound numeracy and literacy skills, good interpersonal/communication skills and have experience in report writing and presentations for external and online publications.
Interviews will take place week commencing the 19 May 2025. National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
