The Role
The Network Architect will provide technical oversight and direction to a team of both onshore and offshore network engineers. The role will involve supporting engineering and service workload for our client. You will lead the process of identifying growth opportunities, supporting ongoing transformation programs and work on business-driven initiatives. The Network Architect will ensure network tools and infrastructure are maintained to drive excellent service levels and will work on finalising the future roadmap of client network infrastructure. For this role you will need to travel to site as required on a need basis and some out of hours work will be required of you.
Key responsibilities:
* Technical Design Authority on behalf of the client for assurance of the high-and low-level designs covering security, contractual and service considerations.
* Creating and implementing an overall technical architecture roadmap and strategy that maximizes the return on technology investment, reduces technical debt.
* Accountable for integration of the new third party SDWAN and hosted voice solutions.
* Security management, documentation and reporting.
* Drive Automation roadmap.
* Perform network modelling, analysis, and planning, including analysis of capacity needs for network infrastructures.
* Provide technical and thought leadership in conjunction with strategic oversight to assure business outcomes are delivered by the solution.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and third-party vendor stakeholders.
* Responsible for holding third parties to account for technical and operational aspects of the design.
* Help translate business requirements into technical solutions
* Ensure integration of the third-party solutions into existing technology and business systems.
* Guide and mentor technical development in the engineering & Service team.
* Create and review impact of change.
* Create reports and technology roadmaps and convey insights to relevant people.
* Consistently ensure adherence to relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices.
* Staying up to date on emerging technologies and trends, and developing expertise in specific areas of networking, such as cloud computing, software-defined networking (SDN), or network security & Automation.
Your Profile
Key skills/knowledge/experience:
* Extensive proven experience working experience as a Senior Network Architect
* Knowledge of the following network technologies: LAN (local area network), WAN (wide area network), Wi-Fi, data-center LAN, SD (software-defined) networks, telephony, mobile solutions infrastructure, unified comms, network management solutions, network-specific security and remote access technologies and approaches.
* Knowledge of Cisco SDWAN and Mitel VOIP technologies.
* Excellent understanding of Aruba networking products and solutions.
* Experience working with Firewalls – Fortigate, Cloud Firewalls.
* Ability to construct and document end to end designs for networking solutions.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Ability to provide assertive leadership and feedback to senior stakeholders.
* Awareness of market and industry trends and alternative products.
* Ability to work independently yet cohesively as part of a distributed team using agile methodologies.
Good to have:
* AWS and Azure cloud networking, VPCs and transit gateways.
* Python, PowerShell, API, understanding and ability to work with Active Directory.
* Mitel voice, DCI/NGNs, SIP, VOIP and understanding of telephony.
* A meticulous and conscientious approach.
* Experience with a large company including supply chain and logistics and understanding of associated business processes.
