Senior Accountant - Growing Accountancy Firm - Hertfordshire

Our client is a dynamic and growing accountancy firm seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients across various industries, delivering high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services. This is a client-facing role requiring excellent technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting junior team members.
About the Opportunity:
Due to growth, they are looking for a new team member who will be working alongside the principals with varied duties.
About the Responsibilities:
1. Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as their main point of contact for accounting and tax matters.
2. Prepare and review year-end accounts, corporation tax returns, VAT returns, and management accounts.
3. Ensure all statutory deadlines are met for your client base.
4. Provide proactive advice and support to clients on accounting, tax planning, and general financial matters.
5. Review and oversee work prepared by junior staff, providing guidance and training where necessary.
6. Identify opportunities to improve client processes and efficiencies.
7. Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to client retention and growth.
8. Keep up to date with changes in tax and accounting legislation relevant to SME businesses.
9. Support partners and managers with ad-hoc advisory and project work.
About the Applicant:
1. ACCA, ACA, or equivalent qualified (or finalist with relevant experience).
2. At least 3-5 years of experience in an accountancy practice.
3. Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax legislation.
4. Experience managing a client portfolio and delivering to deadlines.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Strong IT skills, including accounting software such as TaxCalc, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and Excel.
7. A proactive and commercial mindset with attention to detail.
