Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer to join our technical software delivery team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise to guide and mentor a team of engineers, while actively contributing to the team's technical endeavours. As a Technical Authority on DevOps and Platform practices, you will play a crucial role in shaping strategic decisions both within the team and across multiple teams. Your leadership will ensure the delivery of high-quality, high-value software to our customers.
What you'll be doing:
* Teaming up with Technical Leaders to craft long-term strategies that boost product quality, security, performance, observability, and maintainability across engineering teams.
* Being the DevOps Guru within and across teams, tackling infrastructure as code, configuration as code, debugging anomalies, managing technical debt, and refining workflows to deliver top-notch software to our customers.
* Creating adaptable software that can be quickly iterated upon, allowing us to bring high-quality features to market swiftly. Ensure our solutions are fit for purpose, provide significant business value, meet quality standards, and align with engineering and security best practices.
* Leading and coordinating technical efforts across multiple development teams to minimise duplication, enhance collaboration, and provide clear progress updates, ensuring smooth delivery of cross-cutting concerns.
* Staying ahead of the curve by continuously researching relevant technologies and identifying opportunities to incorporate them. Using your tech-savvy to survey the market landscape for insights, direction, and vendors, keeping our applications up-to-date, relevant, and efficient.
* Evaluating technology alternatives, weighing benefits, costs, and risks. Conducting gap analysis and developing proof of concepts for innovative solutions.
* Partnering with the Developer Community to define software development standards that ensure our teams deliver secure, compliant, and audit-ready software without slowing down the development process.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
* Extensive expertise in CI/CD and IaC tools such as Terraform, ArgoCD, and Helm.
* Proven experience in administering and maintaining Kubernetes clusters with essential virtualization skills.
* Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker.
* Demonstrated experience as a technical contributor within a development team, including effective participation in code reviews.
* Proven track record of contributing to maintainable software features.
* Strong analytical skills for debugging and solving complex problems.
* Experience in guiding, coaching, and mentoring colleagues.
* Solid knowledge of mobile-specific CI/CD tools such as Fastlane, Xcodebuild, Cocoapods, Gradle, and npm.
