Job title: Pipefitter/Welder
Reporting to: Mechanical Services Manager
Location: Customer sites nationally – Based from the Normanton workshop
The Company
JBC specialise in mechanical and industrial engineering which encompasses a vast range of services to the public and private sectors.
Scope and remit
Responsible for on-site pipe fitting and welding as required for the installation of steam boilers and ancillary plant, or other mechanical services.
Personal duties
* Assisting the Project Manager with the planning of pipe system layouts and installing according to specifications.
* Using the appropriate tools/equipment required for installation in a safe manner in line with the health and safety policy and procedures.
* Modifying and maintaining pipe systems as per the specifications provided.
* Carrying out inspection and test of all installed pipe work in a safe manner in line with the health and safety policy and procedures.
* Evaluating and resolving technical problems.
* Providing technical support to customers and colleagues.
* Providing customers with regular reports and feedback on their service requests, including the completion of relevant paperwork.
* Developing and maintaining relationships with customers.
* Ensuring compliance with the company’s health and safety, quality and environmental procedures.
* Participation in paid overtime and weekend work.
* Available to travel across the UK but mainly within the local area and some overnight stays will be required.
* Ensuring compliance with the company’s health and safety, quality and environmental procedures in accordance with legislation and the company policies.

Knowledge, training and experience required
Essential
* Full driving license.
* The ability to read and correctly interpret drawings.
* A strong proven engineering background within the combustion industry/boiler house maintenance.
* Field based service engineer experience within a pipe fitting and welding role.
* Previous experience with manufacturer products including Nu-way, Hamworthy, Saacke, Weishaupt Dunphy industrial package burners etc.
* Previous experience of working to current health, safety requirements and environmental legislation.
* Previous experience of ISO standards and accreditation/best practice.
* Knowledge of steam, hot water and thermal oil boiler plant and digital combustion control.
* Gas qualifications; COCN1, ICPN1, CIGA1 and CORT1.
Desirable
* City and Guilds in Plumbing, Pipework Erection, Pipework Fabrication and/or NVQ Level 3 in related trade.
* Welding certification to current British standards; metal arc, tig and preferably mig.
* Gas qualifications; COCPI1 (LS), ICPN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A.
* IOSH Working Safely and/or Safety passport.
* The ability to plan pipework routes.
* A proven mechanical engineering background.
* Experience in a customer facing role.
* Computer literate.
