Job overview
We are appointing a 1-year fixed (Maternity cover) Patient Pathway Administrator within the Neurosurgery Department.
We seek a Pathway Administrator to join our friendly team in the Neurosurgery Administration department at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The post involves dealing with telephone queries, face-to-face queries, ensuring the smooth running of the department, monitoring the patient pathway, and providing full administrative support to Consultants and their teams.
Training and support will be provided by the team.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to join us as a Patient Pathway Administrator working in the Neurosurgery team. This post is crucial to the ongoing development of the service and would suit a candidate who has excellent organisational and communication skills.
1. Designated point of contact for the consultants and clinic teams, responsible for consistency across the service.
2. Work closely with each member of the admin team to understand their role and support them.
3. Proactively and efficiently deal with telephone enquiries from patients, carers, GPs, and other service users.
4. Understand the patient pathway and manage New & follow-up appointments.
5. Actively manage and maintain the 18-week RTT pathway.
6. Oversee the booking of clinic appointments for new patients.
7. Manage all correspondence and ensure urgent matters are dealt with properly.
8. Oversee the transcription of clinic letters and general correspondence.
9. Ensure all patient referrals are dealt with according to Trust processes.
10. Regularly check future clinics and ensure cover is agreed with the medical team.
11. Obtain necessary diagnostic tests/hospital notes for clinics.
12. Understand the complaints procedure and resolve complaints as necessary.
13. Liaise with the Assistant Service Manager for effective clinic management.
14. Any other duties as requested by the Assistant Service Manager.

Education and Qualifications
* Competence in the use of various computer software packages
* EPR trained (Training available)
Experience and Skills
* Previous experience within an administrative role
* Knowledge of RTT 18-week pathways
Specific Aptitude and Abilities
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Familiarity with NHS performance targets
Interpersonal Skills
* Evidence of interacting with a wide range of people
