RINA is looking for an experienced Principal OME Consultant to join a specialist and growing team working for its Defence clients across all military platforms including vehicle, surface ship, submarine, unmanned, fixed wing and rotary. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop and shape RINA’s Safety capability in a rapidly growing OME environment.
This role can be based out of our Chippenham, Lincoln or Leatherhead offices though RINA is a smart/hybrid working organisation, so living within commuter distance of the office is not necessarily required.
The Safety team are experiencing a real breadth of project work on some of the most technically advanced programmes in UK Defence, including naval destroyers, submarines, unmanned air systems, Apache, Chinnock, Typhoon, but to name a few. The successful candidate will take a lead on safety critical and/or environmental projects, not only saving lives but also driving engineering efficiency.
The role
* You will lead a variety of Safety Engineering projects, focused on OME, to ensure requirements are delivered on time, to budget, and to the required quality.
* You will manage projects either as an individual or managing a small team.
* Support to bids, proposals, analysis and report writing.
* Promote RINA’s Safety capability to customers, providing expert counsel, through face-to-face liaison, relationship building and presentations.
* Assist the Discipline Lead with developing and updating new safety capability to meet emerging market demands.
Qualifications & experience
* At least five years’ experience in the application of safety engineering management solutions in high hazard environments.
* Must have knowledge of UK MOD OME and/or Weapons systems.
* Must be familiar with DOSR and DSA-03.
* Experience in conducting Hazard & Safety Risk Analysis or Independent Safety Assurance (ISA) projects and have developed safety cases.
* Experience in the use and application of Safety Engineering tools such as Reliability Workbench, ASCE, BowTie, ETA or FTA.
* Some working knowledge of the following Defence Standards: Def Stan 00-056, Def Stan 00-970 series.
* Some working knowledge of ASEMS, POSMS and POEMS processes.
* You will have an engineering background. This is not a Health & Safety position.
* Ideally, you will have UK Security Clearance, or you must be a British citizen and be prepared to go through vetting.
