Role: Quality Assurance Auditor Reporting to: Assistant Quality Manager Direct Reports: Quality Control Auditors Shift Days: Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays. Days Off Mondays & Fridays. Shift Hours 7am to 5pm Purpose of Role: The role is responsible for assisting with the implementation and monitoring of food safety and quality processes for day to day food manufacturing operations, providing technical support, completing audits and carrying out investigations in line with the requirements of the BRC Global Standard and business requirements. The role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, have good communication skills, the ability to produce management reports and communicate key issues effectively on a regular basis. Pay Advised at interview stage Accountability Operational excellence Key tasks HACCP Support the effective implementation of the site HACCP system by:- Management of the sites schedule for calibration of equipment used for food safety, quality or legality Completion of in house equipment calibrations in line with site procedures e.g. scales, thermometers, ph. meters etc. and manage the issue of thermometers and metal detector test sticks Complete equipment validation and verification studies in line with site schedule and procedures e.g. metal detectors, temperature controlled storage, product core temperatures during baking etc. and complete relevant documentation. Temperature checks of stand-alone fridges e.g. QA fridge, staff fridges and vending machines (where not managed externally) Complete checks on metal detectable items in line with specified frequency Updating site HACCP documentation and procedures. Filing of completed site HACCP documentation following sign off by relevant personnel Provide support for CCP procedure training Allergens Support the effective implementation of the site allergen management system by:- Completion of allergen validation studies as identified by site risk assessment Auditing of allergen controls in line with site plan and raising non-conformities as required Chemical and micro analysis Collect and book in samples in line with site procedure and testing schedule Communicate results and issue non-compliances as required Providing technical support to assist with investigations and arrange for retests where applicable Swabbing Carry out micro swabbing in line with site procedure and testing schedule Communicate results and issue non-compliances as required Providing technical support to assist with investigations and arrange for retests where applicable Food safety & Compliance Auditing of CCPs and pre requisites in line with the site audit plan and raising non-conformities as required GMP and weekly inspections in line with the site audit plan and communication of actions required Management of glass and hard plastic audits in line with site plan and updating relevant documentation Carry out investigations in the event of a metal detector rejection to identify source Completion of mass balance and traceability audits in line with site audit plan Completion of QMS audits in line with site plan and raising non-conformities as required Monitoring of departmental paperwork completion during site walk rounds Assist with site pest control review and corrective actions Assist with incident process and support product withdrawal / recall Manage product release process at site (where applicable) Accountability Quality Assurance Key tasks Product quality Completion of online process audits in line with site audit plan and communicate to relevant personnel Management of organoleptic taste panels and product quality checks, ensuring completion of group documentation and communication of issues to relevant personnel Completion of product pre-launch checks in line with site technical requirements Management of product shelf life evaluations and site schedule Completion of pre-printed label checks on receipt, ensuring compliance labelling and pack control procedure Provide technical support at factory trials Ingredient assessments Raw material intake checks in line with site plan and raw material specification Accountability Communication Key tasks Site meetings Assist with site root cause evaluation meetings and provide technical support for corrective actions Provide information for site management meetings e.g. food safety, HACCP etc. Attend monthly food safety / HACCP meetings (personal development) Participate in site initiatives for food safety culture Site communication systems Management of the food safety noticeboard and update as required Management of customer complaint process, including logging and communication of information and providing technical support to assist with investigations Management of supplier complaint process, including logging and communication of supplier complaints and responses Reports Complete weekly / monthly micro reports for site Complete weekly / monthly swab reports for site Complete weekly / monthly customer complaint reports for site Tracker Spreadsheets Management of site incident / non-conformance trackers to ensure information is completed effectively and documents returned on time Management of site hold process, including regular reviews and completion of trackers SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR JOB ROLE Essential Desirable Skills e.g. Computer literacy Project Management Interpersonal Communication, verbal & written skills Attention to details and methodical approach Report writing skills Intermediate IT literate Good time management and planning Problem solving Basic microbiological knowledge Good team member Able to work with limited support BRC awareness HACCP implementation Microbiological investigation Job Related Experience e.g. Number of year experience required to do the role Does the experience need to be industry specific Food Manufacturing Experience Document control systems (FMS or equivalent) Food manufacturing experience at a BRC accredited site Essential Qualification e.g. Professional Vocational, i.e. City and Guilds Educational (where appropriate) Level 2 Food Hygiene Internal audit qualification HACCP (Level 3) Basic Microbiology Level 3/4 Food Hygiene HNC (Food Related) or equivalent Additional Information Other Flexibility to operate on shifts required and at weekends where required
