Person specification
Education and qualifications:
Essential criteria
1. Occupational Therapy degree qualification or equivalent & NHS experience.
2. Registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
3. Evidence of Continued Professional Development and reflective practice.
Desirable criteria
1. Membership of BAOT/COT.
2. Membership of special interest group.
3. Experience on a broad band 5 or band 6 rotational scheme.
4. Attendance at post-graduate course(s) in relevant field.
5. Attendance at Student supervisors' course.
Knowledge:
Essential criteria
1. Understanding of Occupational Therapy structure in NHS.
2. Understanding of Occupational Therapy models of practice.
3. Standards - HCPC/COT/Local Legislation and litigation related to Occupational Therapy.
4. Professional ethics and their application in practice.
5. Policies and procedures (local e.g. Health and Safety).
6. Ability to search and review the evidence base.
7. Understanding of clinical governance and the implications for the service.
8. Commitment to lifelong learning.
9. Application of specific assessment techniques.
Desirable criteria
1. Evidence of written projects/audits.
2. Relevant Standardised assessments.
3. Relevant outcome measures.
Experience:
Essential criteria
1. Clinical problem-solving ability.
2. Highly developed physical skills, dexterity, co-ordination and sensory skills for assessment and treatment of patients.
3. Ability to assess patient conditions, establish a diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan, from a range of OT modalities.
4. Physical fitness to move and handle patients and equipment.
Desirable criteria
1. Previous experience of working in the acute hospital setting (qualified or as a student).
