Halyard is a highly skilled multidisciplinary engineering company providing services including site studies, design, procurement, cost control, program management, construction management and commissioning in the mining and utilities sectors. Headquartered in Toronto Canada, we work closely with our wholly owned subsidiary Micon International with offices in Toronto, Cornwall and Norwich UK. Whilst this role is based in the UK it will support and work under the direction of the Toronto engineering team. The intention is to build and develop engineering capability in the UK that will in the short term support the Canadian operations but in the medium term establish a fully functioning engineering office in the UK. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our team. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for working with the discipline engineers but have a strong focus on the mechanical and/ or equipment packages. Reporting to the Process Man a ger but working on a specific job for the Project Man a ger, this in an engineering role with a high degree of project management. The role requires a high degree of relevant engineering judgement in order to affect the management functions of this position. The work will require site time in addition to time spent in the UK and/or Toronto office. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will contribute to the successful completion of projects within budget and on schedule. Key Responsibilities: Carries clear responsibility and accountability for delivery of the objectives for a project taking into consideration the full project lifecycle including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and project controls. Disciplined mining engineer with experience in minerals process and tailings management project execution. T he role requires a good understanding of site constr uction activities and commissioning along with the ability to overcome unexpected difficulties. Coordinates, monitors and controls the project in line with the detailed scope, cost and schedule baselines and manages project changes in terms of th e baseline. Exercises budgetary control to ensure costs are maintained. Plan and o btain additional authorization where necessary to managed changes. Ensures project governance is maintained, specifically compliance to project delegations of authority, procedures and policies. Considers the resourcing requirements for projects and partakes in securing these resources as well as defining the projects resourcing requirements. Ensures measurement of progress on all contracts for reporting and progress claim purposes. Ensures forecast of cost and schedule is updated and project forecast ed end date on a monthly basis. Communicates regularly with team to ensure that goals and priorities are clearly understood so that they are met. Works closely with and mentors other team members, especially junior members. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mining Engineering or a related field. 5 - 15 years of experience in engineering, pl ant design, construction and commissioning. Having a professional engineering status in your jurisdiction and the ability to apply for licensure in Ontario (if ). Proven experience working as a Mining or Project Engineer in a similar role. PMP registration as asset. Experience in engineering, procurement and construction and other project-related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies. Proven background of resourcefulness under pressure. Must have strong oral and written English communication skills. Ability to communicate in other languages is a strong asset.
