Job Description
As a Concierge at The Grand York, a prestigious 5-star hotel, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, responsible for delivering personalized and impeccable service. You will work alongside the Head Concierge in maintaining the smooth running of the entrance to the Hotel, assisting guests to ensure that their stay is memorable and exceeds their expectations. Key Responsibilities for the role will be:
1. Greet guests upon arrival and departure, ensuring a warm, friendly, and professional interaction.
2. Offer assistance with luggage handling, transportation, and general inquiries.
3. Provide personalized recommendations for dining, local attractions, shopping, cultural events, and more.
4. Anticipate guest needs and provide tailored services to enhance their experience.
5. Handle reservations for restaurants, tickets for shows, and arrangements for tours, transportation, and special events.
6. Coordinate requests for special occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays, or other celebrations.
7. Assist with booking spa treatments, fitness services, and any other hotel offerings.
8. Ensure guest preferences are noted and accommodated to create a seamless and personalized experience.
9. Liaise with other departments (e.g., Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage) to ensure all guest requests are fulfilled in a timely manner.
10. Develop relationships with local businesses, including restaurants, tour companies, and entertainment venues, to provide exclusive services and offers to guests.
11. Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to relay important guest information and special requests.
12. Handle guest complaints and concerns with professionalism, ensuring timely resolution and guest satisfaction.
13. Escalate issues to the Head Concierge or management when necessary.
14. Uphold the hotel’s reputation by delivering exceptional service in line with 5-star standards.
15. Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of York’s local area, attractions, events, and history to offer valuable insights to guests.
16. Ensure the concierge desk and lobby area are presentable and well-maintained at all times.

* Previous experience in a concierge or customer service role, preferably in a luxury or 5-star hotel setting.
* Strong knowledge of York and its surroundings, including key attractions, dining options, and cultural events.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with high-profile and international guests.
* Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm, composed, and professional demeanor.
* Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently.
* Proficiency in hotel management software (PMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
* Additional language skills are a plus.
* A passion for hospitality and providing exceptional guest service.
