Our full-time students are based at White Lodge in Richmond Park and Upper School in Covent Garden. There are two additional boarding houses for Upper School students in Pimlico and Covent Garden. We also have offices on Bedford Street in Covent Garden.

IT ASSISTANT APPLICATION DETAILS
LOCATION: Upper School, Covent Garden and White Lodge, Richmond Park. There will be regular travel to our other sites.
HOURS: 35 hours per week, with evening and weekend work compensated with TOIL
SALARY: £25,000 per annum
START DATE: ASAP

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To deliver first and second-line ICT support, as well as working continuously on improving IT systems and processes reactively and proactively.
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The IT Assistant will provide fast, efficient, proactive support to staff and students across multiple locations, with frequent travel between sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in IT, possess excellent organisational skills, and be comfortable with travel across different locations. Additionally, flexibility to start early during the weekdays (around 8:00 AM) is essential. This dynamic position offers significant opportunities for growth and development within the IT field, and is perfect for someone looking to build a long-term career in IT.
Key responsibilities include providing efficient support to staff and students, maintaining existing software and hardware, assisting with upgrades, performing preventive maintenance, and offering Audio-Visual support when requested by the IT Manager. You will also be responsible for delivering training, troubleshooting issues, and offering ongoing support and guidance to staff and students.
MAIN DUTIES
1. Deliver prompt and efficient IT support to both onsite (staff/students) and offsite users, addressing issues raised through the IT helpdesk and other communication channels, adhering to the agreed Service Level Agreement.
2. Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot ICT systems, hardware, and services across all sites.
3. Carry out both proactive and reactive maintenance to ensure smooth and efficient IT systems and operations.
4. Assist in the installation, maintenance, upgrades, and relocation of hardware, software, and IT infrastructure, including tasks such as cabling, office relocations, and ICT equipment setup.
5. Collaborate with third-party vendors and external ICT contractors to diagnose and resolve ICT-related issues.
6. Oversee and manage the school’s mobile devices, such as phones, tablets, and laptops, and support staff, students, and visitors in connecting their personal devices to the school's network and resources.
7. Provide IT inductions and training to new and existing staff, offer ongoing support for existing staff and students, and create user guides, manuals, and operating procedures.
8. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of ICT assets and ensure all assets are properly accounted for.
9. Communicate effectively with users regarding service disruptions or any IT-related concerns.
10. Stay current with evolving IT systems and solutions by engaging in further training, self-study, and pursuing IT certifications, such as those from Microsoft.
11. Assist in setting up and supporting online meetings through platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom.
12. Provide support for the school’s ICT and Audio-Visual infrastructure as requested by the IT Manager.
13. Travel to and work across various school sites as needed.
14. Perform any other duties reasonably requested, within the scope of the role.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
1. Prior IT experience in educational settings.
2. Microsoft or other relevant IT certifications.
3. Demonstrate experience in providing IT support, preferably in an educational environment.
4. Proficient in Windows 10 & 11, Microsoft 365, and Office 365 suite, with a strong understanding of their practical applications.
5. Hands-on experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems, particularly with Apple products.
6. Knowledge and understanding of IT networking, cybersecurity principles, and familiarity with classroom technology, telephony, printing, and mobile devices.
7. Highly organised with a commitment to completing tasks efficiently and meeting deadlines consistently.
8. Energetic and enthusiastic about providing a helpful and efficient IT support service to all users.
9. Strong problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
10. Knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles to ensure the protection of sensitive information.
11. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to understand users' needs and collaborate effectively to find practical solutions.
12. Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly to non-technical staff and articulating staff needs effectively to external suppliers.
13. Ability to recognise and manage pressure, seek support when necessary, and respond constructively to feedback.
14. Willingness to work flexible hours, undertake regular travel across all sites, and complete necessary training.
15. Empathy and alignment with the aims and values of the school.
16. Occasionally, the role may require you to work at height to troubleshoot IT equipment. You must be willing to undergo training in working at height and manual handling.
