Exciting Opportunity for Experienced Highway Inspector in Derby
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Highway Inspector to join a busy client in the Derby area.
As the Highway Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that the highway network, including roads, footpaths, and street furniture, is maintained to a high standard. You will monitor and inspect the condition of the highway, identify defects or hazards, and ensure that remedial actions are taken promptly to maintain safety and minimize disruption to the public.
The main duties of the Highway Inspector are:
1. Conduct regular inspections of the highway network, including roads, footpaths, and street furniture, to identify defects or hazards.
2. Ensure timely repairs are carried out and that defects are rectified in accordance with local authority standards and safety requirements.
3. Monitor the quality of highway maintenance and reinstatements, ensuring they meet required standards for durability and safety.
4. Work closely with contractors, utility companies, and internal council departments to facilitate effective communication and collaboration on highway maintenance projects.
5. Maintain accurate records of inspections, including photographs, reports, and compliance documentation.
6. Report on the progress of highway repairs and any issues encountered to the Highways Manager.
7. Contribute to the preparation of reports and documentation for senior management, providing insights and recommendations on improving highway conditions and minimizing disruption.
The Highway Inspector will have key experience in:
1. Full UK driving license.
2. Proven experience in inspecting highways, roads, or footpaths, ideally within a local authority or highways environment.
3. Strong knowledge of highway maintenance practices, regulations, and safety standards.
4. Experience in issuing defect notices and managing defect rectification processes.
5. Proficient in the use of relevant IT systems for record-keeping and reporting.
