A generous referral scheme. What you’ll be doing: The home will support up to 3 children and young people (CYP) with learning disabilities, autism, or who experience mental ill health. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in establishing the culture and day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all children in care. While the manager will be expected to work within established policies and procedures, this role offers the opportunity to lead the development of the home, set high standards of care, and shape the delivery of services to meet the individual needs of the children. You will receive monthly input from our Consultant Psychotherapist, who will provide guidance and support in developing strategies to meet the psychological and therapeutic needs of the young people in your care. This collaboration will empower you to implement the most effective approaches for supporting children with complex emotional needs. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management: Lead, motivate, and develop a committed team of care staff to ensure the highest standards of care and support for children and young people. Safeguarding & Welfare: Ensure the home operates in full compliance with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding policies, and statutory requirements, providing a safe and secure environment for children and young people. Individualised Care Plans: Oversee the development and implementation of person-centred care plans for each child, supporting their emotional, social, and educational development, particularly in relation to learning disabilities, autism, and mental ill health. Psychotherapeutic Support: Work closely with the Consultant Psychotherapist to develop and implement effective support strategies, using therapeutic methods and psychological insights to enhance the care provided to the young people. Operational Management: Manage the daily operations of the home, including staff rotas, budgets, health and safety, and the smooth running of day-to-day activities. Team Development: Supervise and support the care team, providing training, mentoring, and performance management to foster a professional and positive working environment. Partnerships & Communication: Build and maintain strong relationships with external agencies, schools, and families, ensuring the best possible outcomes for the children and young people. Ofsted Compliance: Maintain a high standard of care in line with Ofsted expectations and ensure the home is fully prepared for inspections. Key Qualifications & Experience: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management At least 2 years of management experience in a children’s residential care setting, with a strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and inspections. Must have previously been an Ofsted-registered manager. Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a children’s care environment, particularly with young people with learning disabilities, autism, or mental ill health. A solid understanding of safeguarding, care standards, and statutory requirements. Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills. Passion for working with children and young people and the ability to create a safe, nurturing environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead a team through both challenges and successes.
