This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.
We are seeking a qualified information professional to join the UK's leading child protection information service as part of our busy library team, managing the development and delivery of our enquiry and research services.
The NSPCC's Knowledge and Information Service is the most comprehensive resource on safeguarding and child protection in the UK. Through our website, NSPCC Learning, we provide information and resources for anyone working or volunteering with children and young people. Our specialist library in London contains a wide selection of UK and international materials on child protection, safeguarding, child abuse, child neglect and related topics.
The Senior Information Specialist (Research and Enquiries) manages the enquiries desk, including supervising a team of Information Specialists, and co-ordinates complex literature searches to support NSPCC research and evidence services. In addition, all Senior Information Specialists undertake weekly enquiry and cataloguing work and assist with the promotion of services through inductions and training, as well as written communications. This role will include line management responsibility.
We are looking for applicants with significant experience of delivering high-quality, customer-focussed library and information services and a strong background in answering enquiries and supporting research activities in a specialised field.
You will also have:
* Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to confidently communicate with a wide range of service users.
* The ability to write and present complex information clearly and concisely for different audiences.
* Great attention to detail.
* A proven ability to manage, supervise and motivate a small team to deliver quality services.
* A commitment to keeping children safe.
This role offers the opportunity to work independently and use your initiative; lead on small projects; and be part of a friendly and supportive team to develop your information and management skills and make a real difference to the lives of children. Join us and you'll become part of a team that cares about the work they do and the people they work with. You'll discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that'll bring the best out in you.
This post is suitable for hybrid working.
