Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the Security Operations Engineer role is to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of iPipeline’s information systems and data by managing critical security technologies throughout their lifecycle. The Security Operations Engineer is responsible for research, design, implementing and optimizing various security solutions. This role is crucial in maintaining a robust security posture and protecting iPipeline from cyber threats. The Security Operations Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance security measures, maintain compliance with industry standards, and contribute to the overall security strategy of iPipeline
Responsibilities:
* Lead the Security tooling lifecycle
o Evaluate and select new security tools and technologies, leading proof of concept activities and making recommendations.
o Oversee the onboarding process, ensuring seamless integration of new tools into the security infrastructure.
o Ensure the maintenance and optimization of security tools, managing updates, patches, and configurations.
o Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all stages of the security tooling lifecycle.
o Manage the offboarding process, ensuring proper decommissioning, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
* Oversee and manage the processes surrounding regular engineering checks, ensuring the health and performance of security tools and systems. Stay informed about changes, assess their impact, and coordinate responses to tooling issues. Additionally, take critical responsibility for developing and refining procedures, mentoring team members, and ensuring continuous improvement in Security Operations. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, ensuring minimal disruption.
* Provide direct technical support to security analysts during event and incident response. This includes, but is not limited to, log analysis, vulnerability scanning, validating exploits, identifying misconfigurations and weaknesses, and assisting in the investigation and resolution of events and incidents. Ensure thorough documentation of findings and actions taken to maintain tracking and reporting.
* Lead adoption of automation-first approach
o Identify and prioritize opportunities for automation.
o Design and implement advanced automated solutions for business tasks and security controls, with a focus on AWS.
o Oversee code management and environment configurations to maintain consistency and reliability in automation efforts.
o Automate and optimize security controls, including both detective and preventative measures, to proactively address security threats.
o Mentor and guide team members in developing, deploying, and maintaining automation scripts and tools.
o Evaluate and refine automated processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness continuously.
* Understand and align technical solutions to compliance requirements and standards.
* Respond to and manage security-related requests from Security Operations customers, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues and inquiries.
Qualifications
* Expertise in Security Technologies: Proficient in technologies supporting Security Operations, including EDR, SEIM, Asset Management, Ticketing Systems, Vulnerability Scanners, IdP, IDS/IPS, Log Management, and AWS security services.
* Possesses strong skills in developing scripts and code to automate security tasks and enhance security operations, using languages and tools such as Python and PowerShell or similar.
* Understanding of Incident Response and Management, Industry standard frameworks (ISO, NIST, ITIL, NIST) Best practices (CIS, SANS, OWASP) Regulations (PCI DSS, GDPR, HIPPA) Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and application of these standards and practices in daily operations.
* BSc or MSc in Cybersecurity or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
* Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or from specific technology vendors like OKTA, CrowdStrike, and Zscaler are advantageous.
* Extensive understanding of cloud security, specifically in AWS, with a specialization path.
* Excellent communication skills: Both verbal and written, to effectively communicate security issues and solutions.
