The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced manager to join the Disability and Learning Support Service in the varied and rewarding role of Assistant Director Development and Inclusion.
You will be someone with extensive people management and strategic management experience within the context of Higher Education student support. This is a busy and influential role which would suit someone with significant experience in a student support context looking for an opportunity to a drive inclusion for disabled students at the University of Edinburgh.
Key aspects of the role include:
* Line management of a team of specialist support staff.
* Managing and developing formal external supplier contract(s) for the provision of specialist support.
* Direction and management of Disability & Learning Support Service (DLSS) events and wider University engagement activities.
* Leading key relationships with specific academic Schools within the University by providing guidance on implementation of reasonable adjustments, disabled student support and inclusion.
* Leading on key aspects of the strategic work of DLSS in conjunction with other Professional Service areas.
Your skills and attributes for success
* A degree, plus evidence of recent relevant professional training
* Experience within a Higher Education setting at a senior/similar managerial position
* Experience of managing staff.
* Ability to lead a team, delegating effectively while maintaining consistent judgement.
* Understanding of, and commitment to, promoting equality and inclusion, particularly disability and neurodiverse conditions.
£49,250 to £60,321 per annum (Grade 8)
