Our international City firm client is looking for a senior Data and Cyber associate to join the team in London.
The suitable candidate will have between 4-6 years' experience, advising on EU and UK digital regulation, specifically from the Data, Privacy and AI side. You will provide expert legal advice on Data Protection and Privacy laws and all other areas of new digital regulation and cybersecurity matters to a diverse clientele, including multinational corporations, technology, digital media and life sciences companies and financial institutions, often addressing cutting-edge questions on how to launch new services against a background of regulatory uncertainty.
You will have in-depth experience advising on all aspects of GDPR and the EU AI Act and will be familiar with the broader wave of digital and data regulation (and is interested in new technologies on the application of regulation to them). You will also be keen to understand the impact of AI on individuals and how it will transform businesses and will be comfortable leading advice and negotiations for clients.
The work is primarily non-contentious and the focus is on advisory work, contracts and strategic advice to clients seeking to comply with data protection, privacy, AI and cyber requirements. The work will involve understanding the EU and UK regulatory landscapes and a knowledge of other privacy laws is desirable, but not essential.
Depending on experience, the associate will be expected to conduct meetings and calls independently, as well as under supervision. In addition, the associate will often be the primary point of contact when liaising with foreign counsel where appropriate.
Knowledge, skills & experience:
* E&W qualified solicitor, with 4-6 years of PQE in Data Protection or Cybersecurity law. Applicants from a commercial tech background with experience of GDPR and Data Regulatory will be considered.
* Strong understanding of national and international data protection legislation.
* Experience advising on complex cross-border data transfer issues.
* Proven track record of managing multiple client projects simultaneously.
