Specifically, the post holder will be responsible for:
Assuming responsibility for day-to-day regulatory interactions with your area of responsibility. This includes planning and conducting inspections and audits that will assess security arrangements and exercises, providing evidence of compliance with the regulatory expectations set out in the regulatory framework.
Preparation of inspection and assessment reports, as well as monthly reports to the Principal Inspector.
Supporting the ongoing development and maintenance of the DefNucSyR Regulatory Management System to deliver effective and proportionate nuclear security regulatory arrangements across the DNE.
Developing and maintaining effective relationships with other nuclear regulators, including the Defence Nuclear Safety Regulator (DNSR) and the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), to share lessons learned and develop best practice approaches and provide relevant assurance (in a competent authority role).
Act as a functional lead for a security domain area to support other DefNucSyR Inspectors as required, by providing SME input into areas not directly within your responsibility, including being part of inspection teams and audits.
Contribute to growing nuclear security SQEP across the DNE, through maintaining high standards of personal nuclear security professionalism and supporting knowledge sharing across the enterprise.
All DefNucSyR inspectors are supported through a comprehensive and individually tailored learning and development plan designed to build their expertise across nuclear, security and regulatory disciplines. Following this there will be a requirement to pass a Duly Authorised Person (Security) (DAP Sy) board in order to receive delegated authority to perform your duties within Nuclear Security Regulation.
