This role is initially until Easter 2025 but has potential to go permanent for the right person.
The role is Leading Dance including the oversight of curriculum, colleagues and pedagogy in the department. They are looking for a Dance Teacher to deliver high-quality dance education at Key Stage 3, 4, and 5. They ideally will have experience teaching dance in a secondary school setting and a strong understanding of the GCSE Dance curriculum. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons that engage and motivate students, while fostering their technical skills, creativity, and understanding of dance theory and choreography. You will also lead other teachers of Dance, including possible line management responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, engaging Dance and Physical Education lessons to students across [Key Stage 3/4/5, or grade levels].
Develop and implement a creative and diverse curriculum that caters to a range of abilities and interests.
Encourage participation in extracurricular dance and sports programs.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to ensure improvement and growth.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages students to reach their full potential.
Collaborate with other teaching staff to organize school-wide events, such as talent shows, sports days, and after-school clubs.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during lessons, both in the classroom and during external activities.
Contribute to the school’s overall ethos by promoting health, well-being, and physical fitness.
Key Requirements:
A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
A strong passion for both Dance and Physical Education, with the ability to teach both disciplines effectively.
Experience teaching Dance in secondary schools.
Proven experience teaching dance and PE, ideally within a school environment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
