Project engineer (Automotive) Due to our success and expansion, FEV UK have an exciting opportunity to join the team. We are looking to recruit a Project Engineer on a full time, permanent basis. FEV UK are a smaller subsidiary of one of the largest automotive engineering companies in world, offering a complete range of engineering services, providing support across the globe to customers in design, analysis, prototyping, powertrain and transmission development, these include vehicle integration, calibration and homologation for advanced internal combustion engines, hybrid powertrains and electric vehicles Due to the nature of the role, you will be based at our Head Office site in Coventry working in a brand-new facility as part of an exciting joint venture between FEV and Coventry University. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on activities, has a strong interest in the automotive industry and is looking to expand their knowledge of the powertrain development process with a world-renowned engineering consultancy The role As our Project Engineer, you will be responsible for day-to-day operation of our Test Cells in Coventry. Main duties Customer communication to ensure accuracy of the test plan Write the test specifications, develops test scripts - either from scratch or from existing components, programming and monitoring of drive cycles Support the installation and commissioning of test objects into test rigs/cells Maintenance of engine and Test Cell Hydrogen programmes for ICE and FC Interpretation of project targets and writing of test specifications. To be successful, you must have: Knowledge of internal combustion engines operating principles (Gasoline, Diesel and Hydrogen) Good powertrain mechanical, electrical, electronic background Hands-on experience of engines e.g. engine and component strip, repair and assembly Experience of fuel injection, ignition and emission component operation Experience of engine diagnostic scan tools for fault finding and repair Understanding of modern vehicle electrical systems (engine management, harness, electronic systems) Knowledge of new vehicle technologies (e.g. H2, BEV) Ability to log and record engine and transmission scan tool OBD data (e.g. INCA) Experience in test bed operation and test bed control systems Education and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering 2 years minimum experience in a related industry Understanding of data acquisition software/hardware Good written and verbal English communication skills. Experience in customer interaction, clear reporting and efficient communication Confident in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and engineering software (Inca, Uniplot, MatLab, …) Capable of operating and modifying complex Excel files to perform data analysis tasks.
