ABOUT THE ROLE: CONFERENCE & EVENTS SALES MANAGER
As Conference & Events Sales Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving conference & event sales, converting enquiries, and ensuring exceptional client experiences. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for maximising revenue across our conference and events spaces and establishingAC Hotel by Marriott Glasgow as a premier destination for unforgettable events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONFERENCE AND EVENTS SALES MANAGER AT AC HOTEL BY MARRIOTT GLASGOW
• Oversee the receipt and conversion of incoming enquiries by the C&E team to achieve targets and maximize revenue
• Work with commercial team to ensure meetings & event revenue meets or exceeds budgeted figures
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and agencies
• Maximise revenue through identifying and converting upsell opportunities
• Drive conversion rate through effective team SOPs, utilization of tradables and collaboration with pro-active sales team
• Monitor accurate data entry in Opera and providing accurate business on the books analysis to aid forecasting.
• Regularly update of demand calendar, identifying need periods & opportunity months
• Manage contract terms & clauses templates
• Build attractive sales packages alongside pro-active sales team
• Create accurate function sheets, building strong communication with operations team
• Support & coach the C&E team
• Regular review and modification of C&E strategy with commercial team
• Seek opportunities to increase sales and guest satisfaction within the Team
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
We hire based on potential, passion, and personality, but here are some key skills and experience we’re seeking:
• 5 years’ experience in event sales, business development, or coordinating events within a hotel or venue.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and secure revenue opportunities.
• Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills.
• A high level of creativity and ability to bring events to life for clients.
• A proactive and results-driven mindset.
• Exceptional organisational and time-management abilities.
• Experienced in Opera would be an advantage but not essential
• Positive attitude and strong communication skills
• Confident in numerical skills, reporting and data analysis
• Detail focus
• Resilience and ability to thrive even in high pressure situation
