Independent Forgings and Alloys (IFA) is one of the UK’s leading independent aerospace and industrial forgers. The unique feature about IFA is the combination of open and closed-die forging while also undertaking the whole production process from raw material to the finished product in one location. Operating from a 680 000ft2 facility in Sheffield, we manufacture high-integrity, open-die and closed-die forged components in nickel alloy, titanium, stainless steel and carbon alloys for customers and tier-one suppliers within the aerospace, nuclear, power generation, marine as well as oil and gas sector.
Main Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the IT Manager, the role primarily focuses on continuous improvement projects across site that require IT advice and support.
Key Accountabilities
* Responsible for the IT support of personnel using remote access and face to face.
* Setting up and maintaining IT access for all users.
* Providing advice and support on the use of mobile devices, printers, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Business Central, Microsoft 365 and other software packages.
* Upgrading, purchasing, and replacing IT hardware as required.
* Liaising with external IT support as required.
* Providing guidance on network security and ensuring robust network defences.
* Provide First Line Support.
* Troubleshoot Hardware and Software.
* User Account Management.
* Incident Logging and Tracking.
* Basic Network Troubleshooting.
* Maintain IT Assets.
* Provide Onsite and Remote Support.
* Escalate Complex Issues to IT Manager.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Strong Interest in IT: A genuine passion for technology and a desire to build a career in IT support.
* Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and effectively to non-technical users.
* Willingness to Learn: Open to feedback and eager to develop new skills.
* Attention to Detail: Careful and thorough approach to problem-solving and documentation.
* Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
* Education: GCSEs or equivalent, with a good standard of English and Mathematics.
* Experience: No prior experience required, but a basic understanding of computers and common software applications is a plus.
Personal Qualities: Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable.
Qualifications
Essential:
* A minimum of 5 GCSE’s.
o Min. Grade 5 (C) - English
o Min. Grade 4 (C) - Math
