Job overview
Due to recent service expansion, we are looking for an enthusiastic Specialist Physiotherapist with an interest in working with adults with learning disabilities in the community. This permanent Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist post serves the Northumberland and North Tyneside Learning Disability community population.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an integral part of the wider team which delivers a range of specialist assessments and interventions for adults with learning disabilities. The team comprises of a range of clinicians including Community Nurses, Nursing Associates, Support Workers, Clinical Psychologists, and more.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will need to have:
* Experience working as a Physiotherapist in learning disabilities or neurological services.
* Ability to demonstrate core skills and knowledge as indicated within the job description.
* Ability to organise and prioritise duties and activities.
* Experience of supervising and allocating work to Physiotherapy staff.
* Effective communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a community MDT.
* Ability to form positive relationships with service-users with a learning disability.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Support the wider clinical team in managing and refining the core service delivery.

Skills and Competencies
* Skills in appropriate standardised and informal assessments
* Highly developed communication skills
* Proven ability to communicate effectively within multi-agency teams
* Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions
* Ability to use IT systems
* Experience of communication with people who have communication difficulties
Qualifications
* HCPC registered Physiotherapist
* Recognised Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent.
* Further relevant post qualifying training.
Experience
* Proven track record of post registration, clinical experience in learning disabilities and/or neurological services.
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of providing Physiotherapy services.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
