We have an exciting opportunity for a Global Software Asset Manager.
The Software Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing the management and optimization of software assets across the organization's global footprint. With 3rd party support and the utilization of appropriate SAM tooling they will track licensing entitlement and usage to ensure GKN Aerospace remains compliant. Managing vendor software Audits as required, ensuring effective engagement with IT Leadership and the wider business. The role requires a deep understanding of software licensing, compliance, and optimization strategies to ensure effective utilization of software resources while minimizing costs and risks.
This role is based remotely and applicants we will consider applicants from all parts of the globe. The role will require some national & international travel and ideally the successful candidate will be based near to one of our sites.
How You'll Contribute
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive global software asset management strategy aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
2. Maintain an accurate inventory of software licenses, entitlements, and usage across all business units and geographies.
3. Monitor software license compliance and ensure adherence to licensing agreements and regulations.
4. Identify opportunities for cost optimization and risk mitigation through software license optimization and consolidation.
5. Collaborate with procurement, legal, and finance teams to negotiate favourable software licensing agreements and contracts.
6. Establish and maintain relationships with software vendors and partners to stay informed about licensing changes, updates, and best practices.
7. Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on software asset management policies, procedures, and best practices.
8. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing compliance with software licensing requirements.
9. Continually review software license estates to harvest unused software and optimize usage and deployment.
10. Manage and act as primary contact for software compliance audits.
11. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to software asset management.
What You'll Bring
To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
Essential:
12. Proven experience (3+ years) in software asset management or a related field, with a focus on global operations.
13. In-depth knowledge of software licensing models, compliance requirements, and optimization strategies.
14. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyse complex data and make informed decisions.
15. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
16. Solid understanding of IT procurement processes, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
17. Proficiency in software asset management tools and technologies. (Snow, SCCM or similar)
Desirable:
18. Professional certifications such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM) preferred.
