Within the Customer & Strategy function, the Government Relations & Special Projects area is focused on developing policies that are based on sound qualitative and quantitative analysis. As our Economic & Policy Analyst you will be responsible for leading analysis that contributes to the development of internal business and investment cases, in addition to activities that support ongoing government engagements, such as economic impact analysis and forecasting. This will include both qualitative and quantitative analysis, including economic modelling, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement planning. What you will be doing: You will work with stakeholders from across the business to obtain, synthesise, and assess a range of data on diverse topics relating to the nuclear and defence industries, producing meaningful outputs to inform senior decision-making, both internally and to support engagements with the UK government. This will also include analysis of government relevant policies and their implications on the business. You will part of a lean team with a wide remit responsible for developing the business’ position on future government policy. To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria: We are looking for an experienced analyst, familiar with a range of analytical methodologies, capable of developing investment case material from the ground up, including required financial models, in addition to assessing economic and societal impact of investments. You must be an independent operator, capable of managing ambiguity, thinking critically, and working in an environment where the required data is not often obviously at hand. In addition to being able to operate flexibly to cover a range of emergent tasks. You must be able to think strategically, see the bigger picture and understand how various factors weaves together into a single narrative, then be able to communicate this clearly and concisely. The ability to organise your own time and manage requirements to deliver your agreed output is key. You will be comfortable and productive working with many and varied parts of the business, beyond the immediate team, to gather and analyse information and develop insights and recommendations. To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant analytical focused field (politics, international relations, economics, data analysis). Experience with business and investment case development. Experience economic or financial analysis, assessing economic impact, and developing related financial models. Strong capability in Microsoft Excel. Experience in the government policy and investment decision-making process. Desired Skills: Experience working in the defence or nuclear industries and awareness of the issues facing those industries. Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially to senior stakeholders. Qualification in a nuclear related field or a good understanding of nuclear technologies.
