This is a permanent, full time role and will be based at Glasgow Airport.

Job Description
* Support the operational team in the delivery of a safe and reliable vehicle fleet through planned and corrective maintenance.
* Maintaining Glasgow Airport Limited and any other contracted vehicles and transport related equipment.
* Carrying out a support service to winter operations activities including snow clearing and de-icing duties.
* Recovering vehicles from operationally critical areas when required.
* Assist in post incident / accident vehicle or aircraft recovery.
Principle accountabilities
* Maintaining all Glasgow Airport Ltd and contracted road transport related equipment in a safe and operational condition.
* Examine vehicles completely and report orally and in writing upon the condition, roadworthiness and safety.
* To ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of quality.
* Providing maintenance support to Glasgow Airport Engineering team.
* Carrying out maintenance and repair of all equipment in a safe manner and reporting of potential hazards.
* Identifying parts required to maintain equipment in a safe & working condition & ordering when necessary.
* Maintaining the motor transport workshop & surrounding areas in a safe, clean & working condition.
* Attending statutory airport & vehicle maintenance related training courses.
* Preventing spillage & accidental contamination of environment.
* Correctly disposing of waste and participating in recycling of waste products.
* Auditing vehicles operating airside to vehicle inspectorate roadside standards.
* Carry out welding and fabrication work as and when required.
* Carry out servicing to our fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles.
* Carry out small bodywork repairs and painting to damaged vehicles.
* Performing minor vehicle electrical installations (additional lights etc.) and repairs.
* Prepare all vehicles, up to and including HGV, for MOT test.
* Carry out service and repair to air conditioning systems within our fleet.
* Maintain and repair a small fleet of plant and trailers.
* Install and deinstall VHF and UHF radio equipment.
Qualifications and experience
Essential
* An approved motor vehicle apprenticeship, City & Guilds (Level 2 or 3) or equivalent motor vehicle engineering qualification, National Craft Certificate for heavy vehicle mechanics.
* Experience as qualified mechanic working on heavy and light vehicles.
* IMI Level 2 or 3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance.
* HGV/PCV drivers licence.
* A positive outlook and attitude.
* Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities in a fast paced operational environment.
* A self-starter with strong ability to work under own initiative.
* IT literate, with proficient use of Microsoft Office suite such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
* Communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing.
* Be a highly motivated individual with the ability to work effectively under pressure without direct supervision.
* The ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organisation and with external organisations both orally and in writing with confidence and diplomacy.
Desirable
* Experience maintaining vehicles operating on airports.
Special Requirements
* Must be able to obtain and maintain suitable security clearance to satisfy requirements and requirement for airside security pass and access.
Framework and boundaries
* Consults with supervisor on how and when to process jobs within the workshop environment to ensure efficient use of time and space.
* Takes decisions on when to replace vehicle components and ordering replacements within budgetary limits.
* Advising departmental manager / customer when replacements over budgetary limits are required.
* Regular interaction with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
* No line management responsibilities.
* Operates within the boundaries of applicable legislation, internal policy and other regulatory requirements.
