Due to our continued growth, working on larger projects, and submitting an increased number of tenders, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing business, with the potential to advance into a Leadership or Director level role in the future.
We are looking for someone with a positive can do attitude to help take NIS to the next level. You must be able to prioritise workloads and work well under pressure, confident dealing with clients, managers, engineers and sub-contractors, have good computer skills, and strong attention to detail.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing all costs relating to mostly building projects, ensuring they are completed within budget, and to implement and maintain effective management systems and procedures in the delivery and continuity of the Mechanical and Electrical services.
This is a full-time permanent position, working 40 hours per week, between the hours of 8.30am/9am until 4.30pm/5pm, based at our HO in Barking.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
* Preparing budget estimates and detailed elemental cost plans
* Producing Schedules of Works and Bills of Quantities
* Reviewing contractors’ tender submissions and preparing detailed cost comparisons
* Managing contract administration, valuations, and the final account process
* Provide day-to-day technical and operational support to the team
* Collaborating with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery
* Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
* Evaluate and negotiate contract terms
* Monitor project progress and costs
* Provide advice on contractual claims
* Undertake regular audits and cost analysis of maintenance and repair projects
* Management of all engineering data/reports, ensuring that appropriate action/follow up is achieved.
* Implementation, management and development of the Concept planned maintenance system
* To ensure that the Building Management are regularly appraised of any new developments
About You
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Quantity Surveyor who shares our passion for excellence and innovation. The ideal candidate will have:
* 5+ years’ experience (or equivalent) in quantity surveying
* A track record of successfully delivering projects, preferably in the super prime or prime residential sectors
* MRICS or MCIOB chartered status (preferred)
* Strong problem-solving, project management, and client relationship skills
* Ambition and the drive to take on leadership responsibilities in the future
* Strong analytical and numerical skills
* Knowledge of construction contracts and regulations
* Experience in cost control is advantageous
* Responsibility and ownership of complete engineering services
* Commercial awareness, business acumen
* Budget management
* 3rd party/contractor management
* Health & safety
* Property Technical / Mechanical/ Hard Services background withing a commercial or industrial environment preferred.
* Tender knowledge and experience
* Knowledge of CDM regulations
* A good understanding on M&E design guides, British standards, CIBSE guides
* Able to use or have knowledge of software such as Microsoft packages
* Role is predominantly office based, with site visits as and when required
